Dr. Miguel Angel Valbuena is a researcher in Condensed Matter Physics, specialized in the study of the electronic structure and magnetic properties of low dimensional systems by means of Synchrotron radiation-based techniques, as Angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) or X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD). After his ph. D stage at LURE (Orsay, France) and ICMM-CSIC (Madrid) (ph. D diploma at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, UAM, 2006) and his post-doctoral trainings at UAM, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), he became research staff at IMDEA Nanociencia (2018-) as responsible of the new Spin-ARPES laboratory.

Beatriz Muñiz Cano was graduated in Physics (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, UAM) and obtained her master’s degree in Condensed Matter Physics. She has worked at the Department of Applied Physics (UAM) on 2D semiconductors materials at the Institute of Micro and Nanotechnology (IMN-CSIC) with micro- and nanometric magnetic systems. She is currently PhD Student at IMDEA Nanociencia and her research lines are in close relation with the study of the electronic structure of 2D materials, as well as in the emergent phenomena induced by spin-orbit coupling (SOC) on surfaces and interfaces, studied by SR-ARPES.
