Nonreciprocal magnonic spin transport
Place: conference hall, IMDEA Nanociencia.
Abstract:
Electrically controlled magnon transport through magnetic insulators offers a new recently emerged paradigm for information communication and processing. The bosonic nonconserved nature of magnons admits various useful features, such as dissipationless propagation via a magnon condensate, not available in the conventional electronic spin transport. In this talk, we will discuss how these bosonic quasiparticles can be engineered to admit nonreciprocal spin transport i.e., the spin propagates differently in the forward and backward directions. We will discuss experimental demonstrations as well as the theory of nonreciprocal magnon spin transport in ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic insulators, highlighting the fundamentally different nature of the nonreciprocity in the two cases.
