Proyección documental "Blas Cabrera. Historia de la Física"
The documentary Blas Cabrera: History of Physics explores the life and legacy of the renowned Canarian scientist Blas Cabrera Felipe. From his humble beginnings in Lanzarote and La Laguna to his rise in Madrid, Cabrera established himself as a leading physicist and ultimately earned international recognition. He became part of the European scientific elite of the early 20th century, alongside luminaries such as Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Niels Bohr, and Erwin Schrödinger. The film chronicles pivotal moments in Cabrera’s career and personal life, including Einstein’s historic visit to Madrid in 1923, his role in the legendary Solvay Conference, the repression he faced after the Spanish Civil War, and his subsequent exile and passing in Mexico in 1945. It also highlights the recovery of his legacy, the discovery of his unpublished manuscripts, the repatriation of his remains to La Laguna, Tenerife, in 2022, and the recent renaming of the Instituto de Química Física (IQF) Blas Cabrera by the CSIC in his honor.
