Special collection celebrating 200 Years of Benzene is out
06.11.2026
Last year marked the benzene molecule’s 200th anniversary since Michael Faraday's seminal discovery. Benzene is an iconic and ubiquitous molecule in chemistry – one that has profoundly shaped the modern world. To celebrate this special milestone in benzene’s history, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) has published a cross-journal themed collection, guest edited by Nazario Martin (University Complutense of Madrid, and IMDEA Nanociencia) and Ben Feringa (University of Groningen), that takes a broad perspective on carbon-based systems that can be regarded as benzene’s direct heirs.
