Madrid, December 18th, 2023. IMDEA Nanociencia proudly hosted the 13th edition of the Early Stage Researchers Workshop in Nanoscience on December 14th, 2023. The event showcased the research works of young scientists working in the areas of Nanomedicine, Materials, Quantum Materials and Surface Science and Photophysics: 17 oral contributions, 49 poster presentations, and with the attendance of over 140 participants. Since its inception in June 2011, this annual workshop has been a cornerstone, uniting early-stage researchers of IMDEA Nanociencia and other research institutions in the fields of the Nanoscience to exchange ideas, expand their knowledge, and create networking opportunities.

The 2023 edition of the Early Stage Researchers Workshop in Nanoscience featured distinguished plenary lectures by Prof. Carlos Romero from the Facultad de Farmacia, Universidad Castilla La Mancha, and Dr. Katherine Villa from the Institut Català d'Investigació Química, ICIQ. Their insights illuminated the latest advancements and future directions in synthetic methodologies for crafting phosphorous heterocycles systems and the potential of photoactive microswimmers, respectively, inspiring attendees and enriching the dialogue within the scientific community.

A noteworthy addition to this year's program was the #ESRW Social Scientific Session, an engaging online event hosted on X (Twitter). This innovative session fostered online discussions, enabling participants to share their research findings, engage in scientific discourse, and expand their professional network beyond the confines of the workshop.

Recognizing their distinction in communication, the workshop awarded prizes to outstanding contributors. Elena Pérez Elvira (Nanoarchitectonics on Surfaces Group) received the Best Oral Communication award, Claudia Flórez Echevarría (Bio-engineered Nanophotonics Group) was honored with the Best Poster Communication award, and Estefanía Fernández (Switchable Nanomaterials Group) was celebrated for her contribution in Social Media Communication.

The success of the 13th Early Stage Researchers Workshop in Nanoscience reaffirms IMDEA Nanociencia's commitment to nurturing the next generation of researchers in Nanoscience by providing a platform for emerging talents to shine and collaborate
